The imaginative mind of Armando Ramírez transforms scrap metal into a sleek, black and silver chess set. Ramirez collects the leftover metal pieces off a die machine and shapes them into the pawns, horses, and parts of the kings, which also feature cogs from a car's electrical system. The queens are made from screws, cogs and bearings from a car's electrical system. The bishops are shaped from sparkplugs and the towers from cogwheels. The board is made from a metal sheet and features ornate iron wires and bendix caps taken from a car's electrical system.
Please note it is the artist's intention not to give his sculptures a fine polished finish, therefore smudges and scratches may be present.
Armando has built his workshop and is now able to give work to other artisans to continue expanding his craft all over the world.
Armando has received 1st place from the regional contest of the Jaliscience Institute of Crafts for his sculptures.
Armando uses and continues to pass down traditional techniques to his children, who now carry on his same methods.
Armando is a very dedicated father. He has two children that he supports financially.
Armando's income helps pay for the education of his two daughters.

To paraphrase my son's reaction: two Wow's, a Very Cool, and Awesome!! I only saw it online but loved the unique appearance and the fact it was made from recycled materials. Only issue that I have is I see it is now only a week later reduced by $36. That's a lot!

Ordered as a Christmas gift for my dad. Arrived a bit earlier than I had expected from the 60 day notice on the website. Beautifully crafted set, a real win on recycling automotive parts.

“As a child I enjoyed inventing toys, and soon yearned to create a unique style of art. Environmentally enamored, I now transform recycled goods.”
